Looking at all the ideas, my head goes towards making the pirate ship because it seems the most interesting. Also I want to give it a ghostly feeling like the flying dutchmans ship. It would be hard to get the ghostly feeling without taking the model into zbrush for detailing and texturing. Using UDK I can get the gloomy effect by using a post process effect and making the sails and other objects translucent by using the material editor in UDK which is a very easy thing.
Using the above pictures gives me a good reference field because a lot of images are side views. I just need to detail the ship in side which I can't seem to find that much reference for at the moment. But later before I reach that stage I will get some reference before going into it. I need to also get reference for cannons and deck small assets.
